Karen Hampton: Time Traveler
In this visual poem, we follow narrative textile artist Karen Hampton on a journey into the magical realm of ancestors and archives. This search for her ancestors leads her to St Augustine Florida where she finds treasures from the past and the present, and weaving them in her own spectacular artwork.

Karen Hampton is a leading American textile artist, whose work focuses on contested territories and abolitionist traditions. Hampton has been creating art all her life, and has exhibited her woven and stitched narrative textiles since 1994. Some signature elements of her work are surface design, embroidery, weaving and multifaceted imagery that honors the African Diaspora.
