Happy International Women’s Day!

As a fundamental justice issue, literacy is also a women’s issue, as women make up at least two-thirds of the 781 million adults around the world who cannot read and write.

Literacy is a main factor in determining women’s life expectancy, closely following access to clean drinking water.

We know that full literacy is possible – for women and men, in the US and around the world – and are working to help share that  through our work in documenting social justice literacy experiences. Women have been at the forefront of many of these efforts, empowering individuals and communities through literacy education.

We will soon be releasing some new materials, and hope you will help support our work, follow us on social media, share with friends, and consider making a donation.
